Chef Alyssa Block

Chef Alyssa has had a life-long passion for art & cooking. As a young child, she would watch the Food Network's Alton Brown in her mom's kitchen. Experimenting with cooking techniques and recipes, she would turn her mothers kitchen into her personal science lab. As a kid and throughout her whole life, she would hold a talent for painting, drawing, cooking and sculpture. She went on to graduate from Columbus College of Art and Design in 2013 with her BFA and a yearning to go back to cooking. This is when she went on to invest every cent she had on starting her own food cart business. Native Eats started in Columbus, Ohio and was seen at farmers markets, festivals and regularly at Seventh Son Brewery. The brewery was where her brand quickly gained a following and took off. Being young and without much professional cooking experience, she decided to pack up the food cart and head out west. This is where she really learned her craft, cooking. She has held many chef positions, including Executive Chef of Shadow Creek Ranch in Silverthorne and Sous Chef at Mountain Standard in Vail. Chef Alyssa has now been cooking professionally for 10 years. Native Eats would become Graze & Torreys in 2020. She now caters and supplies private chef services to the Vail Valley and Summit county full-time.

Alyssa has an open mind, is a lifelong learner and contributes her success to the education she received working with many other chefs. She also believes her art degree has led to creativity and her willingness to break the rules in cooking. When not in the kitchen, Alyssa loves to enjoy the mountains snowboarding, hiking, teaching Hatha yoga in the county, foraging wild mushrooms & farming vegetables and chickens at her home-stead in Eagle, Colorado.
